At drupa TRESU A/S and SOMA signed a strategic partnership to supply TRESU with fully automatic plate mounting. This new feature will significantly reduce the time spent as well as wasted board and ink in job changes to an even lower level.

With a faster impression, TRESU yet again improves the industry’s highest throughput. With improved automation systems, customers experience significant reductions in downtime, reduced waste and ink loss – no matter the operator skill level. Multiplied with the machine cost per hour, the value of an automated process gets quite significant.

Steffan Warming-Rasmussen VP Products TRESU: “With the fully automatic plate mounter SOMA S-Mount technology we close the gap from pre-press plate mounting to in-press perfect printing plate and anilox impression - and this is a great opportunity for us to offer even more competitive solutions to our customers”.

Steffan continues: “The SOMA S-Mount & IRIS technology will also be fully retrofittable for our installed base of TRESU presses as well - and will be one of the top options for customers buying the Innovator going forward.

Pavla Kusa, Commercial Director of SOMA, added, "S-Mount is a very efficient solution for printers. It has proven to be successful. For SOMA, cooperation with TRESU brings another selling channel to increase sales of S-Mount, particularly in the folding carton and liquid packaging segments, where precision and efficiency are essential."

Overall, the SOMA S-Mount together with TRESU’s Dual ink Deck is a great combination and perfect choice making the TRESU Flexo Innovator even more attractive – with significant reduction of time spent on make ready and job change.

Yet another partnership entered at drupa 2024.

At drupa TRESU A/S and KAMA GmbH announced a new partnership to establish together a game-changing solution to bring digital embellishment to the next level of efficiency.

TRESU will integrate its coating unit – the TRESU iCoat II - into the new, revolutionary KAMA Hammerhead 76/106 to add conventional coating options to all the other applications the KAMA Hammerhead offers, such as UV digital spot varnish and digital foiling.

With this combined solution KAMA and TRESU are breaking the limits by greatly widening the range of materials/substrates to be embellished and by raising the bar of efficiency to a high level never seen before.

Beyond the co-development of further options for the KAMA Hammerhead, KAMA and TRESU are setting up the basis for future collaboration in many more fields, by combining the knowledge and the excellence each company brings from their own field of expertise.

Jordi Giralt, Chief Business Officer at KAMA, says: “TRESU is the right partner to achieve the levels of excellence we aim for, and partnering with them will support us to bring digital embellishment to the position we consider it must be: equal to offset or flexo production in terms of efficiency and utilization, and of course rationalizing the cost of production.”

Stephan Plenz, Chief Executive Officer at TRESU, says: “KAMA is in the right track to bring a disruptive solution to the increasing field of digital embellishment, which could benefit from the knowledge we can add. We want to walk this journey with our new partner, and we expect this is just the first step of a very productive association.”

Jordi Giralt concludes: “Drupa 2024 is the right moment and location to present to the world this new partnership, and show the first concepts of the ground-breaking KAMA Hammerhead 76/106 equipped with a TRESU Coater.”

TRESU, a leading provider of flexographic printing technology and coating solutions with 40 years of proven performance, now introduces a new ink circulator: TRESU InkFlex.

TRESU InkFlex for automated high performance ink circulation of water-based inks. Featuring two air operated double diaphragm pumps, the TRESU InkFlex is ideal for large and fast flows for automated long water-based print jobs as well as automated wash and cleaning cycles.

The TRESU InkFlex is designed for automation of the ink circulation and introduces a newly designed intuitive and user-friendly HMI interface optimizing operators’ start up times with fast and easy guidance as well as automated modes of operation and wash cycles. The digital flowmeter for accurate flow- and temperature measurements means less waste and more efficient use of resources increasing customers’ Overall Equipment Effectiveness (OEE). Indicative maintenance based on the number of pumpe strokes further optimizes OEE.

Picking up from TRESU’s new platform of third generation circulators, the Inkflex features an unmatched range of opportunities in automation and Industry 4.0 connectivity and enables full and automated control of a wide range of water-based printing applications as well as full and seamless integration with any OEM technology.

Used in combination with a TRESU chamber doctor blade system the InkFlex provides full control of the enclosed circulation from the bucket to the chamber, where the ink fills the cells of the anilox roller. This Control Pressure Technology system from TRESU prevents any contamination of air inside the chamber and eliminates micro foaming and undesired blistering of the print.

The entire platform of the new InkFlex is 100% modular and ready to adapt to future needs and modes of operation by unlocking already built-in additional features on demand.

Glasklare Beschichtung: Offline-Beschichtung digital bedruckter Faltschachteln

The TRESU Flexo Innovator: New automation features

At drupa2024 TRESU reveals the industry’s next generation of automation features for the TRESU Flexo Innovator - adding further to customers’ value of entering a TRESU partnership.

TRESU offers the industry’s fastest inline multi-station flexo printing machines based on more than 40 years of accumulated flexo printing know-how. The installed base of TRESU Flexo Innovators exceeds 80 presses with more than 500 printing units supplied to leading global brands within folding carton, lottery, and liquid packaging around the world.

With the combination of the industry’s fastest flexo printing output and our targeted modular service concepts, the TRESU Flexo Innovator achieves Overall Equipment Efficiency (OEE) levels second to none in the industry. Further TRESU Flexo Innovator news will be presented at the drupa event in May.

TRESU’s proven high performance flexo ancillary equipment provides full control of  any ink and coating circulation. The new ink supply system TRESU InkFlex® will feature a brand-new user interface requiring minimum interaction from operators and adds full operational flexibility and performance.

TRESU’s new generation of ink- and coating supply systems is designed for improved control, connectivity, and data opportunities – with full OEM integration.

Our precision engineered chamber doctor blade systems are supplied in carbon fiber, ceramic, or aluminum and for narrow web printing or wide web for corrugated board printing up to 6600 mm. The TRESU MaxiPrint Concept will be on display at drupa.

Coating as clear as glass: Offline coating of digitally printed sheet fed folding carton
The TRESU iCoat II is designed on a flexible modular platform, which can be configured from a selected range of modules to accommodate short run printing jobs.

Integrating best-in-class OEM coating technology, the TRESU iCoat II features a new feeder module enabling offline installations and free choice of digital printing technology. Inline or offline, the proven TRESU iCoat II can be configured to suit any coating need for flexible sheetfed spot or flood coating with fast and efficient job changes.

 INDEX 2023 Preview:

Automated and cost-efficient branding of nonwovens with up to 30% cost savings.

At INDEX 2023 in Geneva (CH), TRESU presents an updated range of modular inline CI flexo printing machines reducing the Cost to Print in branded nonwovens printing applications.

A fully automated single pass converting line with integrated inline printing technology optimizes the ability to meet brand owners' demand for branded nonwoven goods, while having the flexibility to also offer competitive shorter production runs and shorter lead-times - with costs firmly controlled.

Inline flexo printing reduces stock complexity, logistics and dependence on pre-printed materials with a fully automated HMI design requiring a minimum of operator training.

A new updated platform enables customers to choose the features they need now and add optional modules of their choice later when need arises.

The TRESU CI flexo printing units comprise up to four water-based colors, a hot air dryer and a register system – all contained within a single module, offering both a compact footprint and a user-friendly design with only a minimum of operator training required.

The TRESU inline CI flexo printing machines reduce brand owners' time to market and offer an opportunity for frequent design changes in response to seasonal trends or fashion demands. Also functional value enhancing features such as conditioners, scents, vitamins and conductivity for digital product features.

The compact housings and build-in measures of TRESU’s inline CI flexo printing machines are also ideal for retrofitting, where space is limited, but quality requirements are high.

Combining in-house inline printing with an efficient drying technology and water-based ink is a sustainable way of printing nonwovens.

10 February, Kolding, Denmark:

At ICE Europe 2023, TRESU will be highlighting sustainable and automated custom-designed flexographic coating systems, for efficient inline application of functional barriers and graphics in industrial manufacturing and converting lines.
Meet our team at booth 564 in the Munich Trade Fair Centre, Germany, 14-16 March.

TRESU supplies custom built retrofit or upgrade units configured for individual space requirements, converting speeds and substrate types running up to 800 m/min. and is a solution to sustainability market requirements like the EU recycling classification information on product packaging enabling end users to collect, sort and recycle all packaging materials in compliance with EU legislation.

Today’s market transition in printing applications towards sustainable water-based coatings with the same barrier properties as laminates is now permanent and picking up speed.

When providing high speed coating technology to world leading brand owners a key feature is the ability to efficiently dry water-based coatings at high speeds. The technical solution to do this is connected to the air velocity in the drying process. TRESU’s VelociDryer™ ensures powerful high-speed drying of water-based multilayer coatings for uninterrupted single pass operations.

With the highly automated H5i G3 coating supply system for WB, UV or e-beam coating applications - printers can easily and efficiently control special coating applications and special demanding circulation tasks with high viscosity, high pressure, high flow, high speed and high temperatures.

TRESU has proven expertise in systems for the application of coating, varnish media, glue or silicone layers for a diverse range of applications including folding carton with food barriers, liquid packaging, cups and plates, décor, veneering and wallpaper.

Niels Westergaard, Sales and Technical Manager at TRESU, comments: “As a versatile process capable of high speeds, and high-definition graphics, flexography is ideal for inline functional or decorative printing or coating. TRESU’s flexographic technology enables manufacturers to boost their products with features that bring improved safety, user convenience, and brand presentation.”

ICE Europe 2023 is co-located with the CCE International – International Exhibition of the Corrugated and Folding Carton Industry – TRESU is present at both events.

Hygienix 2021 Preview:

Automated and cost-efficient branding of nonwovens with up to 30% cost savings.

Nov. 2021

At Hygineix'21 in Scottsdale (USA), TRESU presents its customized inline CI flexo printing machine technology reducing the Cost to Print in branded nonwovens printing applications.

For applications with 3 - 31” web width (80-800 mm.), a precise register and efficient drying technology with VelociDryerTM by TRESU enable production speeds up to 2,000 ft/min (600 m/min), which means that TRESU inline CI flexo printing machines reduce brand owners' time to market and offer an opportunity for frequent design changes in response to seasonal trends or fashion demands.

The compact housings and build-in measures of TRESU’s inline CI flexo printing machines are also ideal for retrofitting, where space is limited, but quality requirements are high. Combining in-house inline printing with an efficient drying technology and water-based ink is a sustainable way of printing nonwovens.

Faster cleaning cycles with the TRESU MaxiPrint concept.

The MaxiPrint Concept chambers feature integrated cleaning nozzles with robustly designed water-shot mechanisms, ensuring quick emptying for fast and efficient cleaning of the chamber and anilox roll, and limiting ink loss during the cleaning cycle.

Furthermore, MaxiPrint Concept offers significantly faster emptying performance because the ink/coating fluid is evacuated through both the inlet and the unique quick-emptying outlet. The Benchmark in Wide Web Flexo designed for both new OEM solutions as well as retrofit projects on existing machinery, MaxiPrint Concept is the benchmark for low ink loss, short job changeovers, and efficient cleaning in wide web flexo applications.

TRESU MaxiPrint Concept is available with a peristaltic or diaphragm ink supply system, and can be adapted to any press side according to need and access. The chambers come with a lightweight carbon-fibre (CFC) or ceramic (CFX) surface, in widths of 1600 mm to 6000 mm.

Get full control with an automated ink supply system: F10iCon
The F10 iCon is a lean, innovative solution for safe, stable and controlled ink circulation – with easy handling and increased production output. F10 iCon automatically adjusts flow, ink pressure and viscosity, providing complete ink process control and outstanding print quality. The F10 iCon eliminates the labour-intensive, time-consuming task of monitoring ink flow.

“This investment will enable us to offer more sustainable coated paper and unbleached pulp products for our customers and extend these capabilities to new customers and market segments worldwide,” said Eva Thunholm, Vice President, Insulation Business, Ahlstrom-Munksjö. “I am equally excited that it will contribute to our group target of reducing carbon dioxide emissions and enable us to abandon the use of formaldehyde, which will also improve the safety of our employees.”

“We are happy when our technology can help our customers. In this case we are building a complete coating line using our VelociDryer™ technology to solve a specific coating challenge with high demands for the drying capacity requested by Ahlstrom-Munksjö” said Ronni Nielsen, Vice President, TRESU Solutions. “We are looking forward to this cooperation and are immensely proud to be a part of a brand-new, sustainable coating solution. Our involvement in a first-mover sustainable project like this is a win-win for all.”
